He also has hands on business experience, having developed, owned
and managed a small business in New York City. He is licensed to practice

Starting
in his second year of law school, Michael Asen conducted jury trials
and judge trials of criminal cases in the Manhattan Criminal Court,
for The New York City Legal Aid Society, Criminal Defense Division.
Shortly after graduation from law school, he was appointed a Federal
Defender and was regularly on trial in the United States District
Court in Brooklyn, handling routine federal criminal cases, and white-collar
crimes, drug importation and distribution, organized crimes and political
terrorism.
For the past 25 years, Michael Asen has expanded his practice to
specialize in a wide variety of civil cases, such as personal injury,
medical malpractice, legal malpractice, estate litigation, corporate
shareholder disputes, partnership disputes, employment litigation,
matrimonial litigation and commercial litigation.
Michael
Asen successfully defended a prominent oriental
rug importer and his company against multi-million dollar claims,
plus treble damages and attorney fees, in an anti-trust jury trial
in the United States District Court For The District of New Jersey;
and successfully defended at trial, several international diamond
companies against numerous claims exceeding several million dollars
plus punitive damages, brought by a former employee.

P.C., one of New Jersey's leading matrimonial law firms. He has appeared
in cases and has handled legal matters in Washington, D.C., Virginia,
Connecticut, Great Britain, Israel, Germany and the Republic of South
Korea.
Michael
Asen's practice of law is not limited to the courtroom. He
has been counseling business clients on issues pertinent not only
to litigation, but also business development, transactions, financing
and related matters. Some of his business clients have been: Foremost Furniture,
Mil-Spec Industries, Kliger-Weiss Infosystems, Myong Graphics, Urban Forest Products and The Zellman
Group. In association with The Zellman Group, Michael
Asen has contributed
to the development and management of a successful retail loss prevention
civil recovery program for a variety of retail companies, including
Kohl's, Mervyn's, Macy's, Bloomingdale's, Lord & Taylor, Six Flags Theme Parks and Starbucks.
In addition to his law practice, Michael
Asen has been a lecturer for the
National Business Institute on the following topic: “Damages in New
York Civil Trial Practice”. In his spare time, he loves to read, to
play the oboe and play tennis. In 1995, he founded the Sound Shore
Orchestra in Westchester County, New York.
